The 11 days adventure safari explores the Eastern, northern and bit of the western parts of the country. It will take you to the Nile River where you will visit the source of the World’s longest river and do white water rafting. You will the visit the Elgon Region, Hike Mt. Elgon and Sipi falls then to Africa’s true wilderness- Kidepo Valley national park. Encounter the Karamajong and the IK in Mt. Murongule and have game drives in the park. You will the drive south to Murchison falls national park and also to Kibale forest National park for Chimpanzee tracking.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival and Pick up

You will be picked from Entebbe International Airport by our driver guide who will welcome you to the pearl of Africa and brief you about your trip. He will the transfer you to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2Transfer to Jinja and do white water rafting

Have an early breakfast at the lodge and drive to Jinja. Jinja is known as the adventure Capital of Uganda with a variety of different adrenaline filled activities to choose from. One of the most amazing experiences you can have is rafting grade 5 rapids on The River Nile. You will do a half day white water rafting on the Nile and visit the source of the Nile. After return to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 3Sipi falls tour

Wake up in the Morning, have breakfast and drive to Sipi village. This is the where Sipi falls plunge at 100m into depth. Sipi comprise of three series of waterfalls all with the view of Mount Elgon. The environment is cool and breathe taking with fresh air down from Mt Elgon. On reaching Sipi town you will rewarded with magnificent views of the Karamoja plains. A local guide will meet you and brief you about the hike to the last of the three Sipi waterfalls. Sipi Falls is a hiker’s paradise waiting to be explored.  Then you will start your walk down to the falls through local communities. On your journey, you will pass through lush farms, coffee plantations and homes.
After the Hike, you will experience the coffee cycle where you will learn and participate in the activities of local coffee production right from the garden to your cup. The Arabica Coffee grown in Sipi on the slopes of Mt Elgon is one of the finest in the world. You will also meet the local farmers and learn about their role in the coffee production process. This will also give you an opportunity of learning the traditional art of roasting coffee beans to make your own cup of coffee.

Day 4 Drive to Kidepo valley National park

Have breakfast and leave Kapchorwa for Kidepo Valley national Park. The park is Uganda’s most isolated park found in the north eastern Corner in the sparsely populated Karamoja Region. You will discover one of Africa’s most scenic national parks containing one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan parks, with over 80 species of animals, several of which are only found in the Kidepo Valley like; cheetahs, striped hyenas, caracal, lions, elephants, leopards, warthogs, ostriches, buffaloes, giraffes and over 465 birds species.

Day 5 Morning game drive and Visit to the Karamajong communities

In the Morning after an early breakfast, we go on a morning game drive for the early risers. The park has got massive big game and we shall be on the drive almost all day. It will be time for a game drive via the  Borassus palm lined Kidepo River, to the hot springs from where you can have a nature walk and enjoy your packed lunch. During the game drive to the hot springs look out for Ostriches and leopards and Leopard tortoises along the way.
After lunch, visit the areas in the fringes of the park to the Karamajong community. It is an area of rich cultural interest for plains around the park are dotted with manyattas Here we shall visit and encounter the Karamajong tribe in the afternoon and be guests in a “Manyatta” a traditional small village made of many mud houses of nomadic people.

Day 6Hike Mt Murongule and Visit the Ik

Have breakfast and carry packed lunch. Embark on the hike to the Mountains of Morungole where the ancient indigenous Ik thrive is a rewarding day that incorporates culture and sightseeing experience. The impressive flat landscapes of Kidepo plains are pardoned by series of hills and mountains that also mark the area among which include Mount Morungole presenting an impressive landscape that offers magical scenic views. The Ik people have maintained their traditions and their remote living have sheltered them from the wind of globalization thus presenting an authentic touch of an African culture. Explore their way of life, their religions, family bonds, marriage practices, architecture and other cultural aspects that are worth understanding. This is an 8 hour hike up and down the Mountain to about 2749m above sea level. You retreat from the encounter and transfer back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 7Transfer to Murchison falls

Have an early morning breakfast and after embark on the route to Murchison falls national park. We shall have a stopover enroute for lunch. Get to Murchison falls and check in at your lodge and relax. You will later in the evening do a game drive after which you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After an early breakfast, tour the Northern section of Murchison with a high concentration of savannah wildlife. The game viewing drive will reward you with a lot of wildlife from the towers of giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, antelopes that roam the plains. Return to your accommodation for lunch as you prepare for a 3-hour boat trip to the base of the falls. Also, proceed for a hike to the top of the falls. Where you will see the waters of the Nile fixing its self in a 7m gorge to form the world’s most powerful waterfalls.

Day 9Transfer to Kibale Forest National park

Have breakfast and then drive to Kibale forest national park – home to the Chimpanzees. This is a full day drive with a lunch stopover en-route and arriving at the lodge in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 10Chimpanzee Habituation

Have an early breakfast at your lodge, carry packed lunch and enough water, the driver guide will pick you and drive you to park headquarters for the Chimp habituation experience. You will be briefed by a ranger guide on how you are expected to conduct yourself while in the forest when you locate the chimps. Often you will find the chimps either resting, feeding or grooming each other with the young ones. This activity allows you about 6 hours with the chimps.
This can be a whole day’s activity or a half day activity. You will walk with the rangers and researchers following these chimps throughout the day. This activity is not for someone who wants photos of chimps because the chimps under habituation are still not used to people so you are on the move a lot.

Day 11Transfer back to the airport/ Departure

Have your breakfast and set off for the return to Entebbe Airport. You will drive through the tea plantations in the region and the beautiful landscape. Have lunch enroute and continue to Kampala. The driver guide will drop you at the airport for your exit flight or lodge if you want to have an overnight.
